The Home Company has been a dream of mine for a very long time - far before I moved away for college to further study interior design and far before I realized how intrinsic this passion truly is to my being. Perhaps it would be apt to say here that it has always been my calling and so, it brings me more joy than I can express to say that my brainchild, THC, has been founded by (Nadim Husain) & I (Lubaba Nadim).

I have always had a fairly clear idea about what I wanted to do with my life for a living - design and decorate people's houses and see elated and satisfied looks on their faces. But this realization hadn't dawned upon me fully until we moved to Dubai and my mother charged me with the responsibility of styling mine and my sister's room. I remember spending the next few weeks drawing inspiration from the media around me and deciding the color palette (which was pink and white), our beds, curtains, and every other tiny detail you can possibly imagine. 

Admittedly, it wasn't my best work but that one tiny happenstance seemed to have change the entire course of my life. By the time I was in high school, I began working on my art portfolio and quickly realized how pushing my limits was introducing me to new horizons of change in the field. Of course, this was a process that couldn't have been possible without the people around me; my parents being the greatest pioneers for the same.

Throughout this incredible journey, my father has always been a motivating figure in my life who has not only supported my creativity but also encouraged it. Having worked in the Real Estate and Mortgage field in Dubai for more than 15 years, he carries indispensable experience and expertise in the same. Therefore, with his help and knowledge of the business, having him by my side as I looked for more ways to understand the vast concept of interior space design has been as gratifying as it has been reassuring. 

Growing up, I would often tag along with my father when he had property visits or staging developments. As we looked around, his keen sense of observance and new vantage points never failed to provide me with fresh perspectives and helped me fall deeper and deeper in love with this job.

While he has always been a source of inspiration for me, there was a particular instance that planted the seed of THC in my head. It was my last few months in college during which I had been working on my degree project. In one of our conversations, as we discussed what I planned on doing after graduation, he said to me, "Look, do anything you like but be your own boss and nurture your originality."

And that's when it officially began.

Fast forward to August 2021, I came back to Dubai after finishing my 4 year interior design course and after a few months of research and planning, I made my decision to establish The Home Company. These small steps towards my business inevitably shaped who I have become as a designer and I suppose it's safe to say that the rest is history.
